The Money's in the List!
Getting started on your own E-biz? Let's assume you already have a Web site, product, sales page and autoresponder. So how do you make everything work together, build your list and make some money?
Build, Don't Buy!
How do you drive potential customers to your web-site or opt-in page and build a list of subscribers that will buy from you in the future? Build, not buy. Building your own list will be much more valuable to you than a list you buy from a list-broker. If they sell it to you, they'll also sell it to many others. You need your own list with subscribers on it who specifically requested more information.
Don't give 'em a choice!
Set up a page on your web site where visitors can subscribe to your mailing list. A whole page, not just a link. Why? If you just have a sign-up box on your site they may or may not sign up. If the only way they can enter your site is to subscribe to your list your subscription rate will go up.
Chat away!
Next, write a series of emails to your list. These emails must be informative. Easy to read. Almost chatty! Try to write them as if you were chatting to your subscriber over a cup of coffee.
Articles and PPC
Once your campaign has been set up, you need subscribers. To get subscribers you need traffic. My favourite source of traffic is from articles I have written and submitted to online article directories, and inexpensive Pay-Per-Click campaigns. Do not spend a large amounts of money on PPC (bid on lower - priced words) until you have a proven response rate and rate of return. You can lose a fortune very quickly if you get PPC wrong.
Respect your list!
This subscriber list will become the basis for your online business.. Do not share it, give it away, send it useless information, sell it, or spam it. Treat these names as though they are your closest friends. Don't mail them some affiliate link to a product you don’t know anything about. Respect your list, and they will buy from you. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow... but if you treat them right and mail them regularly, they will produce a long term income.
