Top Tips On Creating A Downloadable PDF Ebook With OpenOffice
How do you create an Ebook in PDF format....
ready to earn you money and be downloaded?
Creating your own Ebook and selling it online is one of the best proven ways to make money online. So how do you turn your great ideas into a cash earning download?
What is a PDF?
Portable Document Format is was developed by Adobe to be a form of digital document easily readable on any computer. It used to be that you had to invest in specialist software to create a PDF but now you can get the brilliant and free Open Office software suite and create a PDF Ebook for free. It can have security features, links and graphics.
What is OpenOffice?
Open Office is Open source Freeware. You can download it for free and use it for free with no limitations. It is a real rival to Microsoft Office. (personally I think it's easier to use and has a more intuitive menu and toolbar setup.) You can download it from www.openoffice.org
One thing that OpenOffice Write has that Microsoft Office Word doesn't have is a clever little button on the toolbar that will, with a single click, turn your word processed document into a PDF document. It will take your formatting, your links, text and graphics and incorporate them all into your new Ebook. All you have to do is decide where on your computer to save it!
Top Tip #1...Choose the right Fonts
Use Arial as your text font. It's one of the easiest fonts to read on screen, readily available on both PCs and Macs, and bundled with most printer software. Your main text should be 12pt – 14pt in size. Smaller text should be in Verdana which was specially designed to be easily read online. Larger text can be in Georgia or Times New Roman.
Top Tip #2...Insert Headers & Footers
Add Headers and Footers to your document for a more professional look. Put the Title of your Ebook into the Header and copyright information and page numbers into your footer. Use the INSERT Menu to do all this. You can find the Copyright © character under INSERT, then, SPECIAL CHARACTER
Top Tip #3...Secure your work
You can prevent your Ebook being copied or changed. Instead of clicking on the Red Adobe Acrobat icon on the toolbar to turn your document into a PDF do this instead. Click on FILE on the top menu. Click on EXPORT AS PDF. Along the top menu of tabs find SECURITY on the far right. Click on it. Click in the second white box down where it says Restrict Permissions. You can then enter a password so that only you will be able to make changes to or copy your Ebook. Finally, click on the EXPORT button to save your newly created, and secure, PDF Ebook.
