Yes, you should blog. It must be the easiest and cheapest way for anyone to create a presence online. It can be fun and can be profitable.
The Big Question
So how do you make your blog profitable? Ah... the big question! First...you don't have to pay anything to create your blog if you go to www.blogger.com. Fill in the forms and set up your blog, but be careful when you set up your blog to use relevant keywords in the title. If you're hoping to have your blog picked up by the search engines then you could very usefully create four or five different blogs, with different keywords or key phrases linked to the same subject, and then link all the blogs together. So not only are you covering more of the keywords that people will be typing in when looking for your subject. you'll also be improving your search engine ranking by creating links between the blogs.

There is no doubt that the best way to make a success of your blog is to have good content. Good content that changes regularly, and that people want to read. You must remember that there is a lot of competition out there and that if you want your readers to come back and check your blog on a regular basis you must provide them with something that will entertain and inform. I am surprised by the number of people who start a blog, have great keywords, and then just let the blog die. This is a shame. It doesn't take a great deal of effort to update your blog once a week or even once every two weeks and this is the key to success. Every time you update you ping the search engines to let them know they should index you again.
Show Me The Money!
So let's suppose you set up your blog. You're getting a steady stream of regular visitors. How do you make money ? There is a very simple way to make money from your visitors and that is to add Google's ad sense code into your blog . If there is anyone reading this who is making a substantial amount of money this way please let me know! In my experience the trickle of revenue generated by ad sense ads, is not worth the bother, but perhaps I'm doing something wrong! There are those I know, who swear they actually make a living from adsense ads.

A much better way is to incorporate affiliate links on your blog so that visitors who are already interested in your niche can click on them. Hopefully they then buy the product you're promoting, and you'll have a nice commission to look forward to.
List Building for long term profit
The best thing to do though, is to use your blog as a list building tool. Make sure that on your blog there is a link to your squeeze page or your opt-in page, which will capture your visitors e-mail addresses and names. Although this involves a slightly more complicated process, and you will certainly have to spare a little more time and effort in setting up an auto responder and follow-up messages. And of course you'll need some kind of incentive to get people to give you their details. In the long run this will be the most profitable model.
