Who Is Making The Big Money?
So you're in business Online. You've got yourself a website, an autoresponder and a few affiliate products you're promoting to your list, which is fine as far as it goes. And I hope you're doing well, but I would advise you to do a little research and find out what is the difference between you... the struggling affiliate marketeer, and the people who are really making big money on the Internet.
What's the difference?
Look at names like Marlon Sanders, Sean Mize, Brian Kumar, John Rees, Willie Crawford Ewen Chia, and Alan Says. And ask yourself what it is that they are doing that you are not. Why are they succeeding online and you are just about breaking even? The difference between you and them is that they have developed and are promoting their own range of products.
Time and Effort Well Spent
Don't get me wrong. There are plenty of people making very good money from affiliate marketing. It's how most people start their online businesses. It's very easy to set up and get started and it's a great way to learn how online business works. You don't have to spend a lot of time and effort creating products but you do have to spend time and effort promoting products if you want to make a reasonable living at it.
The Downside
The downside of this is that you are completely dependent on the company or the individual who controls the product you are promoting. It's worth giving a thought to what happens if financial problems arise, and you start finding that your commissions aren't being paid. Remember too that you have no control over the price of the product you're promoting. So you might spend money, time and effort promoting a product, only to have the person who controls the product reduce the price, so you are then receiving only a fraction of the commission you were expecting. These are the problems that can arise when you put your business destiny into the hands of others.
No Guarantee
So what can you do? How can you protect your affiliate commissions from the changes that might be made by the person in control of the programme you're promoting? The answer is that there is nothing you can do about it. The business does not belong to you. You are, in effect, just a salesperson and have no say in the pricing or distribution of the product. You can leave the programme of course, and choose another programme to promote. But then there is no guarantee that the same thing won't happen again!
Put Your Destiny Where It Belongs
The answer is to have your own product. The experience you've gained in being an affiliate marketeer will stand you in good stead when you come to market your own Ebook or programme, but it does take a leap of faith and some considerable effort to actually launch yourself into product creation. It's a leap worth taking, and well worth the effort required to put your financial destiny back into your own hands, where it belongs.
